Msekandiana made the remarks today during a handover ceremony where Ufulu Microfinance Limited donated a refurbished diabetes clinic and medical equipment valued at K15 million to improve service delivery.
He said many parents and guardians fail to recognise early signs of the condition, often resorting to incorrect treatment that worsens the child’s health over time.
The donation includes a fully furnished clinic equipped with a large screen for awareness messaging, insulin control cards, weighing scales, two blood pressure machines and diaries.
The support was inspired by board member Merry Nkosi, who noted gaps during visits to the clinic with her grandchild. She said she was impressed by the commitment of staff despite limited resources and proposed the intervention to the board.
Board chairperson of the firm Diana Kaluluma called on companies to take a more proactive role in supporting public health institutions, urging the private sector to engage hospitals beyond personal need and help address critical gaps.
